The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
Deuteronomy 29:29 (NIV)
We often get caught up in our circumstance and forget that God never intended for us to live in the past or the future. We carry the burden of all of yesterday’s sins right up to the edge of tomorrow without ever stopping to sit still in the “right now”. Our worries and fears of what might happen, what could happen so distract us from our purpose that we lose track of all that we are called to do.
He has shown us the way to a worry-free life. He has given us a bridge over the chasm of sin, doubt, and fear. He sent His Son who would carry the weight of all that we have done wrong if we would but ask Him to help us, forgive us, cleanse us. He promised us more than we ever dreamed of if we but trust in Him for this very moment, this very day that He has blessed us with.
Tomorrow is a secret. Only God knows what the day will bring. We need to remember the He is God and we are not. We can’t choose what is His to decide. He is the author of our book, the commander of our ship, the director of our play. We have to trust Him with all that we are, all that we have, all that we hope to be. We have to place our faith in His everlasting love for us.
Dearest Father God, we are Your humble children. We know that we so often want what is not ours to have. Let us trust in You. Let us place our sins at Your feet, our lives in Your Hands. Let us give You all that we are. Show us how to walk in the “right now”, not worrying about anything that might happen tomorrow. Remind us that everything we know is because You have graciously allowed us to have wisdom from Your Word. We love You Lord and all that You have blessed us with. In the Name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
