“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Hebrews 12:1-3

Do you see that line? The one we so often skip over? It’s right there after the first word.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses”.
So who exactly are these witnesses? According to most Biblical theologians, they are the saints who have gone before. They are there always, urging us on, providing support for us, even from the Heavenly realms. Imagine that! While you are running this race we call life, while you are doing the things that God has put you on this earth to do, there are saints at the finish line, cheering you on!
So fix your eyes on Christ, dear friend, and listen to the cheering crowd as you gain strength for the journey. Christ Himself has endured everything so that you can cross the finish line into His waiting arms.
